Piratefish 3.0 now in Alpha Testing
Okay folks, I know you're all itching for news about the latest release.
The good news is that Piratefish 3.0 is very very close now. I have rewritten all the chapters around deployment using Ubuntu Server 7.04.
The new build process has tossed a few curves into the system, but it's still built without any compiling! Ubuntu also features newer versions of SpamAssassin, MailScanner and more - so this version won't be troublesome to build - and all the updates from the support site are rolled in - the FuzzyOcr instructions are now an additional chapter in the build process as well.
The new webmin is also very nice, but has to be downloaded separately after the initial build - so all is not perfect in anti-spam land, but when is it?
The next steps in the development process are going to be building the Piratefish on multiple machines, seeing where any variations in the instructions exist, better stitching together of the chapter framework for the ebook, and the addition or more screenshots if needed. Once all this is done, I'll be moving my own setup to a live system and making sure it all works under duress, and then it'll be ready for rollout.
Once the rollout hits, I'll be emailing everyone whose contacted me, and all existing owners, to let them know the update is available.
