SpamHaus ZEN Update

For those of you using the SBL+XBL blacklist servers, a recent update by the folks at SpamHaus +necessitates users changing their blacklist server settings. The new server combines SBL+XBL+PBL.

The SBL is the Spam Block List, the XBL is the Exploits Block List - and the PBL is the Policy Block List. These three lists are probably the most comprehensive anti-spam lists in the world at this time, and support of SpamHaus and their efforts is strongly recommended.

SpamHaus Spam Block Lists are created by folks reporting that spam has come from a source - the SBL blocks only the basic stuff - they're the place that'll list your viagra spammer and so forth. The XBL specializes is listing spam sources for know hostile content like viruses and other nastiness. The PBL is a new addition, specializing in listing blocks of "end user IP addresses that shouldn't be sending unauthenticated email messages" - basically it's a list that can identify home users and folks using public access points.
